DESIGN BUILT HOMES JOINS ABC’S
“EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION”
Builder Melanie Spurgeon calls for volunteers and donations to help her “Build the Dream”
PEORIA, ILLINOIS • OCTOBER 7, 2008 — Design Built Homes Ltd. announced today that they will join ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” for an upcoming build later this month. Design Built Homes was chosen by this popular television program to oversee and implement an intense one-week building of a new home that will change the life of a deserving central Illinois family. While the name of the family and the location of the home site cannot be released until October 21, one of five deserving families in our community will be selected as the recipient for a new Design Built home – and a life-changing gift.
Design Built Homes’ president Melanie Spurgeon will become only the second woman builder to ever lead the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”. Melanie is a third-generation builder, following a tradition started by her grandfather and continued by her father. After playing tag on building sites as a girl, Melanie grew up to become a builder also, bringing a tradition of craftsmanship to a woman’s understanding of how important homes are for families. It was largely because of the company’s rich legacy of designing quality homes to enhance the lives of families in Central Illinois that led “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” to select Melanie as the Central Illinois builder destined to build a new, life-changing home for a deserving central Illinois family.
This time, building this new home is truly unique – as all products and labor must be donated. Design Built Homes is requesting volunteers from the community to provide their time, support and resources to help ensure the success of this life-altering project.
